Vwave Artbook vol.1 (reprint)

The new revised edition presents redesigned layouts, additional articles in English and Vietnamese, and newly unearthed imagery. As with the first printing, this second edition was released in tandem with Demonslayer’s series of Vwave exhibitions in Vietnam.

The first printing was the companion catalog to Demonslayer’s 2024 exhibition California Dreaming: The Nearly Forgotten Culture of Vietnamese New Wave at Mot +++ gallery in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The second edition comes in tandem with Demonslayer's second Vwave exhibition Vwave: The Lost Art, Sound and Style of the 80s, further expanding the visual and cultural universe of the project.

Vwave traces the vibrant visual language and evocative nostalgia of the Vietnamese New Wave movement. Rare cassette tapes and CDs from artist Dan Nguyen’s personal archive (many never before digitized) appear alongside a curated selection of found images spanning 1992–2022. Together, they illuminate a cultural moment long forgotten yet deeply influential.

A meditation on memory, music, and image, the Vwave artbook celebrates the enduring resonance of a nearly lost cultural era.

Designed and curated by Dan Nguyen. Each copy is signed and numbered by the artist. Independently published and produced in Vietnam. Full color perfect-bound cover, heavyweight paper, 55 color pages. Second-edition printing.
